DOLLHOUSE: A CELEBRATION OF FEMALE ARTISTS
An exploration of power, femininity, and self-creation through art
New York, NY – February 25th, 2025 – VFA is pleased to present DOLLHOUSE, a group exhibition opening on March 7, 2025, from 6:30 to 9:00 PM at its Wooster Street location. Featuring works from 18 artists, DOLLHOUSE examines the dollhouse as a metaphor for female existence—where creation, control, and self-expression converge.
The show brings together a diverse range of artistic practices, from fiber art and painting to sculpture and mixed media, exploring themes of matriarchy, autonomy, emotional depth, and the tension between societal expectations and self-determined identity. "The dollhouse is more than a child’s toy; it is a microcosm where power is exercised, stories unfold, and identities are shaped" says curator Lily Primamore. "This exhibition challenges traditional narratives, offering both a celebration and critique of the structures that define womanhood and selfhood."
