The second of three Adelman photographs in the Brighter Gallery collection from the same 1964 session at Gristede's supermarket near Warhol's 47th Street Factory. This archival pigment print on Kodak paper captures Warhol in a different moment from the same shoot — perhaps the most intimate document of the relationship between the artist and his commercial source material.
Limited edition of 50, signed and numbered. These photographs occupied a unique position in documentary photography: made by a photojournalist who understood the civil rights movement and the culture wars of the 1960s, in the presence of an artist who was quietly transforming what American culture meant. Acquired from Westwood Gallery, New York.
