Buying art through a charitable gallery is a relatively new concept for most collectors. The mechanics are familiar — you browse, you find something you love, you buy it — but the context is different. Here are five things worth understanding before you purchase.

1. Every work was donated

Nothing in our collection was purchased for resale. Every piece was given to the foundation by a collector, an estate, or an individual who wanted it to serve a purpose beyond their own walls. This means provenance matters, and we document it. You receive a work with a known history, not a mystery.

2. Condition is documented honestly

We describe condition accurately. If a work has minor age-related wear, a small restoration, or a characteristic of the medium that affects its appearance, we note it. We photograph works in detail. You should know exactly what you are buying.

3. Pricing reflects fair market value

We price works based on their actual market value — what comparable works have sold for at auction or through qualified dealers. We are not trying to move inventory quickly, and we are not marking prices up to generate margin. The goal is a fair transaction that produces the maximum benefit for arts education.

4. Your purchase has a second impact

When you buy a work from BrighterGallery, 100% of net proceeds fund arts education grants through A Brighter Future Foundation. The student who receives that grant doesn't know your name. But your purchase made it possible. That is the second thing you are buying.

5. You can ask questions

We are not a retail operation. If you want to know more about a specific work — its history, condition details not shown in the listing, or shipping logistics — contact us. We respond to every inquiry.
