Rubik Camouflage — Invader
Invader (active since 1998) is an anonymous French street artist who has installed over 3,500 ceramic tile mosaics across more than 80 cities worldwide, establishing a global pixelated "invasion" that has entered the permanent collections of numerous museums and private foundations. His Rubikcubism practice — begun in 2005 — uses Rubik's Cubes arranged into grids to recreate his signature space-invader characters in a deliberately low-resolution, Pop Art aesthetic.
Rubik Camouflage (2023) applies this approach to military camouflage tones, producing a work that simultaneously references video-game aesthetics, military imagery, and the Rubik's Cube's Cold War origins. Diasec-mounted giclee on aluminum composite panel, 100 × 100 cm. Invader's Rubikcubism prints have appeared on Artnet Auctions and Artsper with estimates typically in the $3,000–$7,000 range.
