Flower Parent And Child — Takashi Murakami
Takashi Murakami (born 1962, Tokyo) is the defining figure of Japan's contemporary art scene and the architect of "Superflat" — a visual aesthetic that collapses the hierarchy between fine art, anime, manga, and commercial illustration into a single, deliberately flattened surface. His smiling flower motif, introduced in the mid-1990s, has become one of the most recognizable symbols in contemporary art.
Flower Parent and Child (2021) is an offset lithograph depicting two smiling flower faces — a large and a small — in a tender pairing that echoes Japanese cultural values of family and care. Signed and numbered by the artist, published by Kaikai Kiki Co., Ltd., Tokyo. Murakami offset lithographs in this format trade actively in the $2,000–$10,000 range on the secondary market.
