The We Are The Jocular Clan series (2018) is a ten-part set of offset lithographs in which Murakami's full cast — Mr. DOB, smiling flowers, skulls, mushrooms — gather in festive, densely populated compositions. Plate 1 opens with the full cast assembled in a celebratory image that establishes the visual vocabulary of the complete ten-part work.
Takashi Murakami (born 1962, Tokyo) is one of the most influential artists of his generation — the founder of the Superflat movement, whose work bridges Japanese pop culture, anime, Buddhist iconography, and the Western contemporary art market.
