Andy Warhol

Mick Jagger (F&S II.140) — Andy Warhol

This 1975 color screenprint belongs to the celebrated Mick Jagger portfolio of ten prints, created after Warhol photographed the Rolling Stones frontman during the summer of 1975 while Jagger and his wife were renting the artist's Long Island home. Published by Seabird Editions, London, and printed by Alexander Heinrici, New York, the portfolio edition numbers 250 with 50 artist's proofs.

At 43½ × 29 inches on Arches Aquarelle paper, the prints are among Warhol's most dramatic portrait works — vivid, painterly, and charged with the energy of their subject. This impression (66/250) is printed on Lenox Museum Board, framed. Complete portfolios and individual plates have achieved significant prices at Sotheby's and Christie's; complete sets have sold above £1,600,000 at auction.
